Don’t Waste Your Money on Skin Care!

I watched Oprah the other day and she had a dermatologist on the show who was telling women how they could look twenty years younger. A big part of it is facial skin care and he said you’ve got to tend to that skin on your upper chest too. His skin care line is Lancer Skin Care Products. I’m sure it’s good stuff. He has three products in his line: Polish / Cleanse / Repair. It’ll cost you $200 to buy all three — if you can get it now that Oprah’s gone all ga ga over it. These products might last you a full month.
Good for Oprah. She can spend $2,400 a year on face products. Can you?
Dr. Lancer’s Polish ($50): You gently scrub your face once a week, which gets rid of dead cells and enables new skin to grow. Everyone should do this. But why would you buy his exfoliation product for $50? Burt’s Bees Peach Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub is a much better and cheaper alternative. You can get it at Walgreens or CVS or get it online here: Burt’s Bees Deep Pore Scrub. It’s got all sorts of good things in it and it’s only $10.00. All you’re doing is removing dead skin — it doesn’t take a $50 product to do that.
Oprah, I expected more from you!
Dr. Lancer’s Extremely Clean Cleanser ($50): This is his gentle face wash that doesn’t have any color or perfumes or harsh chemicals added (but it does have non-harsh chemicals added?). It’s used to eliminate the daily build-up of oils and impurities on your face without stripping the necessary hydration. You’re going to need to use it twice a day. This is good advice, no matter what products you use. Once in the morning and once in the evening — especially if you wear make-up.
Here’s the skinny on his products and some alternatives and great advice from my Chicago dermatologist, Dr. Carolyn Jacob:
Cheaper Alternatives
You need to wash your face twice a day with a cleanser that has a glycolic acid (AHA) in it. It’s best for oily to normal skin. Alpha Hydox AHA Suffle Facial Cleaner got rave reviews. Buy it online for $16.00 by clicking here: Alpha Hydrox Suffle Facial Cleanser or you can buy it at some local pharmacies for $15.99. It’s kinda hard to find so you might want to just order it on line. If you have dry skin, Dr. Jacob recommends you use CeraVe Cleanser, you can get that at most drugstores or buy it online here: Cerve Cleanser
She also recommends that you use a product that contains Retinol in it after you wash your face at night. You can find several, but the Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ was the cheapest and very highly rated too. It’s about $16.00 online here: Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ
Dr. Lancer’s Repair ($100): this is the “replenishing moisturizer,” which Oprah’s doc Lancer claims prevents aging and fills in tiny lines and wrinkles. There are a lot of great moisturizers on the market and I doubt that Dr. Lancers is the only one that will work for you. Instead, Dr. Jacob recommends that you use a daily moisturizer that has an SPF 30 or higher in it and if it has AHA in it, all the better.
One thing I don’t recommend is that you go to a big department store and buy your moisturizer or these products. I seriously doubt that they’ll work any better than what’s recommended above and Oil of Olay products are excellent. A great way to find excellent facial and body products is to go to your dermatologist — most sell medical-grade lotions and creams, and they’ll cost you a lot less than if you go to a department store and buy something that’s not as strong or as effective as what your dermatologist sells.
Here is my favorite “medical grade” line of skin products: Glytone. They have just about everything you need, at a price higher than what you will pay at the drugstore, but certainly a lot cheaper than Dr. Lancer’s products. This is great stuff. You have to “ease” into using these products because they are so strong. You were warned! Stick with it though — you’ll be really happy you did. Click on the product if you’d like to buy it online or your dermatologist might carry it.

I really like Kirkland Borghese Age Defying Wrinkle Defense Serum under my face cream. It feels awesome and it’s got a lot of great ingredients that will “nourish” your face. You can buy it at Costco or order it from them. It’s about $29.00 but it lasts a long time because you don’t use a lot of it. Hope this helps. Thanks for posting! Dean
What night cream do u recommend? And do u know anything about removing facial moles. I’m 33 and during both my pregnancies I got little moles all over my face and it has made me not as confident as I used to.
For night use, I’d say find a moisturizer with Retinol in it, as Dr. Jacobs suggested. Try it out. Buy a couple of them and if you don’t like it, take it back.
I know that removing some moles can be quick and easy and most dermatologists can do it right there in the office. I don’t think insurance will pay for their removal, UNLESS they are causing you problems. Like they bleed, your jewelry gets caught on them, they’re always infected…you get my drift?
If you’ve got several moles, ask the dermatologist to make you a “deal” on removing them. It won’t be inexpensive but I’m sure you’ll be happy you did it. Don’t wait to get it done! Don’t waste your confidence, your youth or your “pretty.” Big Hug Tasha, —d—
I’m in a mini-dilemma here. I never use to get pimples or breakouts of any sorts until my late 20’s. I’m 30 now and have a few dark reddish/ brown marks from pimples. I’m guessing they’re acne scars. I’m terrified of my next pimple and wonder what you would recommended to prevent and treat pimples? Also is there anything I can do to get rid or at least diminish the scars?
By the way the pimples that seem to leave behind scars are usually red and raised, filled with yuckiness and often cause discomfort and soreness. I also get white heads on my chin and black heads on my nose:( Thank you sooo much for your help!

Seems like you’re in the same situation that I was. I never had acne until I entered my 30s. At that time I started getting the cystic acne (raised, red, sometimes painful). I went to my doctor who told me that it was hormonal. She said that when my blood sugar levels go up, my body produces more testosterone which then causes the acne. I started laying off the sugar and drinking more water & it all cleared up within a couple of weeks! In my case, the raised bumps did go away & so did the scars. Hope that helped a bit!
please, please can you give me name of a product that removes, sun spots, brown spots. I think I’ve tried everything!
Obagi products. can get from Amazon. I use clear and sunfader. Plus blender that I mix with treninion 0,5%. Warning! your face will peel a lot in the beginning- I use to have some brown spots and now they are gone. Also use a sunblock.

I learned the OTC skin products trick a while back–I used to spend a fortune at the Lancome counter and then read an article in Consumer Reports that tested about 20 products (from Oil of Olay to La Mer and Chanel) and they said that in the end, the Oil of Olay Regenerist and Total Effects lines were still the best. So now just OTC products for me–so much easier and cheaper to buy! I think the most important lesson I have learned is to be diligent and have a skin regimen.

Patients with oily skin should try Glycolic acid (AHA) or salicylic acid (BHA) washes that help to exfoliate the skin, unplug pores, and decrease the oily feel. For adult acne, add a topical benzoyl peroxide cream daily (careful though, it can bleach your clothing and towels) and a Vitamin A cream at night (Retinol, Retinaldehyde in the active ingredients). If those dont help after 2 months of use, consult your dermatologist (or just jump straight there since they have more powerful medications to clear your skin fast!).

We are fortunate to have exceptional dermatologists in the SF Bay area however the suggestions you made have made a huge difference in my skin in just a week. There is an excellent cream called Tri-Luma that works very quickly and gets rid of facial age spots. It is very expensive and most insurance will not pay for it. One ingredient in it is hydroquinone bleach cream. You can just buy this with a prescription and it is cheap . It takes longer to work. The bad thing with both products is if you go out in the sun without sunscreen on the age spots return. Dean, thanks for the skin care tips. I would have liked to try Dr. Lancer’s products but would not spend that much.

Reference http://www.ewg.org (environmental working group’s NON-PROFIT website) They rate the toxicity of products. Green America also has hydroquinone on it’s list of 10 top toxic ingredients in cosmetic products.

I’ll bet you have Irish blood in you! I’ve got rosacea too. It’s a bitch! There are a few things you can do to alleviate it. You’re gonna hate this: 1. Cut out the caffeine 2. Cut out the chocolate
3. Cut out the spicy food. See your dermatologist or even your family practitioner about it. Make sure it’s rosacea! I had seborrheic dermatitis and I thought it was rosacea…don’t self diagnose! Also, if you have rosacea on your face, you might have it in your eyes too. Check your eyelashes…if they “criss-cross” you might have it and this is especially true if your eyes are really dry. Most optometrists will miss it. Take charge if your eyes are really dry. Your doctor can give you a prescription for a low dose of doxycycline taken every day. If you get that, make sure you take a pro-biotic every day too. I’m not a doctor…but that’s what I’m recommending. Good Luck Maggie! —dean—
So right about rosacea in the eyes! Mine went undiagnosed for years. I had plugs put in my tear ducts to try to alleviate the dryness and went years without eye makeup. What a bummer! My dermatologist never caught it even when my eyes were swollen due to rashes. It wasn’t until I changed eye doctors that I was properly diagnosed. Such a big problem but easily treated. Now I’m back to wearing eye makeup and feel human again.
I’ve never been diagnosed with rosacea, so this may not work for you, but try using honey. I used the cheap kind that came in a bear :) and it seemed to calm the redness down.
I know its messy, but put it on your face for 5 minutes before you shower. You can lay down and put a towel under your head, and take a quick nap or meditate. Then just rinse it off.

I, too, have rosacea and had to go on antibiotics 2 times, use prescription medication, and nothing seemed to work! I did a lot of research on calming ingredients and started using Origins “A Perfect World” White Tea Skin Guardian. It only costs about $38 and you use about a pea size in the morning and again at night. I have used it for about 7 years now with amazing results!! I have no more blisters and no more red patches. Wonderful product!!

Thank you so much. I use to look pretty good, I am 59 yrs old, always looked much younger until I had cancer. I had 6 mths. of chemo, 36 radiation treaments & oh yes 3 surgeries. My brother died of cancer when he was only 34 yrs. old. My parents died of cancer. I just want to look better, but can’t afford what Oprah uses!!! So thank you, for all of your information. A friend saw a picture of me at 50 yrs old, 5 mths before they found my cancer, anyway, she didn’t believe it was me. I met her after my cancer. She saw another pix of me & my son, she said this must be your oldest daughter that you are always talking about, she is beautiful. I told her no that was me at 49 yrs old. She didn’t believe me, that really got to me. She is 16 yrs younger than me. I said just wait!!!

I DO use sunscreen and it is in all my moisturizers. I put on extra whenever I will be out in the sun for any length of time. However, I have a job where I drive for at least 5 hours and cannot take time to reapply as it is suggested. So i feel that the products would not work well in this case. I am preparing my body for conception and pregnancy. As a result, I am doing my best to avoid toxins found in skin products. I have acne prone skin, but I am having a hard time finding something out there that does not contain ingredients that may be harmful to the developing baby such as fragrance, parabens, BHA, and retinoids (just to mention a few). I have found that even “natural” or “organic” products contain some of these under different names such as “black willowbark” (BHA). Is there a skin regiment that you can suggest? Please help!

Can I ask you how long your products lasted? I’m assuming the facial scrub lasted the longest because you use that only once a week.

#1: STAY OUT OF THE SUN! Sunscreen every day! There is not such thing as a “safe tan” unless it’s sprayed on! Wear a hat and at least an SPF 30 and a scarf/neckerchief when you’re venturing out. Don’t forget to apply the sunscreen on the tops of your hands too.
#2: Start using those Alpha Hydox products. They work great. Another brand that I really like is “Glytone”. Buy it online. It’s not as inexpensive as the AH products, but it works great and the AHA’s are really strong in it.
Eat plenty of veggies and drink lots of water. OK…that should get you started. Thanks for commenting! —d—

I am wondering about the new Ab twist exercise machine. I have neck pain due to surgeries, it is really hard for me to do most upper body exercise, this machine appears to have support. It’s by Thane somebody and am wondering if it’s all hype or does it really work and is it worth spending the money on?

Hey Debbie. Sorry about “the pain in the neck.” I looked at that machine online (The Ab Doer Twist) and it looks like it might work —they have a lot of testimonials and it does look like it stabilizes you when you sit in it. But…I don’t know. If you go to physical therapy or are still seeing your doctor, you should ask them FIRST before you embark on any exercise routine/machine.
I’d personally invest in a good pair of walking shoes instead because you can’t “spot reduce” with an ab machine unless you’re doing some aerobic or anaerobic exercises on it. Talk to your PT and ask what ab exercises you can do. Thanks for visiting TGTGG. —dean—
Here are some really great static upperbody/ab exercises (just get in position, tighten everything up and hold for as long as you can):
Lay on your side, prop/lift your body up so your forearm and feet are the only parts touching the ground, tighten abdomen. This is great to make your waist smaller.
Lay on your stomach, go into a modified push-up position where you are resting on your forearms and your legs are spread-eagle – hold that flat back modified push-up position while tightening the ab muscles and “pressing” against the floor.
You can also just hold the regular push-up position, while keeping everything tight.

I’m a little confused about your cleansing product recommendation because Alpha Hydrox AHA Souffle is not a cleanser, is it??

Alpha Hydrox has the products you need to use maybe coupled with the Oil of Olay products as commented by Julee below.
It doesn’t say it’s a cleanser on the boxes I’ve seen in the store and online? The instructions for use say: “Cleanse with Alpha Hydrox Nourishing Cleanser and apply a sheer layer of Alpha Hydrox AHA Soufflé to face and neck (do not rinse off). Follow with Alpha Hydrox Sheer Silk Moisturizer with SPF15 (daytime) or Night Replenishing Cream or Oxygenated Moisturizer (evening).” So the cleanser appears to be Alpha Hydrox Nourishing Cleanser (not the AHA Souffle product)?

There is a whole line that is available, I bought the cleanser and the lotion, so far so good!

The Oil of Olay Resurfacing Night Elixir is amazing! I have seen a tremendous improvement in the size of my pores and my skin tone is evening out. I have freckles and sun damage so this product has been wonderful and I would compare it to a light glycolic peel! It is only $23.99 and there is usually a $3.00 coupon in the Sunday paper!

Great find Julee. I’ve found that the Oil of Olay line is excellent. I trust it and you can get several of their products as Costco for almost 1/2 of what you’d pay at Walgreeens.
I really like their moisturizers but their SPF’s aren’t that high—if they have them in them at all!
Thanks for the information on the Lancer Products. I will try the ones you mentioned. I just purchased Olay Regenerist UV defense regenerating lotion which has SPF 50. I still use Coppertone Sensitive Skin 50SPF with zinc oxide when I play golf since it’s waterproof and won’t sting my eyes.
Hi Dean thanks so much for the information! I was wondering what is the best product to use for sunscreen for your face. Also I was wondering about a good product for those wrinkles around the top lip area. Any information would be appreciated.
Neutrogena is a good brand but it’s really up to you and what feels best for you.
Those wrinkles on your top lip — those AHA’s will help soften the look but you’re still going to have them.
If you can afford it, get some “filler” in there. You have two options for this:
1. Restalyne — that’s a great filler that can last up to a year. About $600 for your lips and other areas that need to be filled. Most doctor’s / people miss where else to use that filler that makes the most difference — that’s the area below your lips and to the sides of your mouth. We tend to loose fat there and if you’ll have your doctor fill that area in and “square up” your jaw line a little, it will take YEARS off of your face.
2. You can get a strong TCA peel and/or have your wrinkles treated with a laser. The TCA peel will revitalize your face and they are not too expensive to have done at a good dermatologists office. Probably less than $500?
There’s also a number of good lasers out there but if you really want a dramatic change, have the CO2 laser done. Sometimes they knock you out to do this or they will inject your face with numbing solution (the cheaper alternative). The CO2 is the most invasive, but girl, it works magic. You’ll like like crap for a few days but the results are amazing. Costs vary, but probably at least $1,500.

I’m sorry if this sounds like a silly question. You recommended using Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ at night after you wash your face. Would this be used as a moisturizer or is it to be used before/after your moisturizer?

I think that is a personal preference. If you only use Hydrox Retinol ResQ and your skin feels good to you, I wouldn’t use anything else.
I didn’t see any recommendation for adding moisturizer over it, but if you’ve used it for a few nights and you’re not getting moisturized like you’d like, I guess you could add moisturizer. Thanks for the comment Lisa. —dean—

I personally started with an AHA a few days ago and my doctor’s nurse told me today that my “skin looked great.” Ha, who needs to spend $200 a month? No me and not you! Thanks for the comments. Since you seem so knowledgable, here’s my question: is there a laser treatment to lessen redness on my face following successful Moh’s sx on my nose and facial reconstruction to repair the defect? I’m almost 60 with red hair and fair skin. Glad skin CA is gone, but tired of wearing heavy makeup to conceal scars and redness. Sx was about 4 yes ago. Thx for some advice.

I am 68 years old. When I was 29 I started using the basic Oil of Olay moisturizers and did that until I was about 50. People always said I looked 10 years younger than what I was. Then around 50 I noticed that Oil of Olay wasn’t doing the job any longer so I upgraded to something with more glycerin in it and that was Almay night cream and I loved it. They don’t make it anymore. I also used the ROC products and they work great but you can’t use them every day even though they say you can. I’m now using Neutrogena products at night and Oil of Olay Total Effects for the day but not the Regenerist because it has something in it that makes my eyes burn. I’ve also been taking Vitamin E for about 20 years and I think that has something to do with my baby bottoms facial skin.

Ha Ha Love a guy with a sense of humour. Is this a dating site? (Giggles) Oh good, I’m looking for tall, handsome rich guy, knows how to cook, blah blah blah. Welllllllllllllllllll, when I was in my 20’s I couldn’t get enough sun. When we went on vacation and I baked myself on the beach and one time I used baby oil. That’s like frying your body. I’ve had sun poisioning twice on my face and once on my whole body. What’s worse is when I got married (in the winter), I wanted to have “a little color” so on the Thursday before my wedding layed down on the couch and put a sunlamp on my face. You know what happened don’t you. I fell asleep for 45 minutes. When I woke I was beet red and in pain. Instead of having a little color on my face I had blisters and this was before I used to bake in the sun. I should have gone to the doctor but I didn’t know that there was help for my stupidity. I stopped going in the sun without sunscreen 40 years ago. In fact, it’s been years since I’ve been to the beach. Hey – it was nice chatting with you.
I just saw Oprah’s show 20 years younger (I taped it) anyway they talked about Botox and using it. Just wondering what you think about using Botox. I have heard from several nutritionist it is like putting poison in your body but yet they have a nutritionist on the show speaking on superfoods and suggesting Botox. I’ve got two friends who are both physicians. They’re as holistic as you can get. Neither would ever put anything into their bodies that would hurt them; they both use Botox or its new competitor Dysport (they both give you the results, but Dysport has a different protein molecule attached to it?).
I’ve had friends who have used Botox for years and they’re really not any more stupid than they always have been. I think it’s safe. If you’ve ever used it and it was administered correctly, you’ll love it. Don’t forget about Restalyine too. That stuff is amazing, especially if you use it around your lips, lower lip area and the “jowly” area of your face. It can square up your jaw and take 5 years off your face if done correctly. Okay. First I want to thanks for doing ur blog. Everyone needs that to go guy for advice. And I am truly enjoying the information I am getting on here. I went out and bought the Burt Bee’s facial scrub. Haven’t used it yet but I did get the oil of olay facial wash and the night nourishing cream. i also got neutragena’s spf day moisturizer. But I feel like I’m missing something. What are ur suggestions? I don’t think I have something that while help with lighting my acne scars. Or maybe I do and don’t know it. :-) Please help me figure this out.
Take a look at my updated post on the skin care. Look toward the bottom of the post and you’ll see what 3 derms have to say about what you need. You need some AHA’s in your regimen. Tasha – Read your post and I have a suggestion. Try the ROC products. They have night and day creams. I have used the night one for my whole face and sometimes if the mirror is telling me I look like an ‘ol hag I’ll use it just under my eyes. It’s a great product. My suggestion is when you start using it don’t use it every day – maybe every two days until your skin gets used to it. By the way, you wil love, love the Neutrogena product you bought. I use Neutrogena Ageless Essentials. It’s a night time continuous product. By the way, don’t listen to this guy. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. KIDDING – as she laughs. Good luck Tasha.

Tasha…I googled “dark spots on face” and so many ideas came up that I can’t put here in this little box. I did see that Clinque has a product for dark spots on the face. Clinque usually isn’t too expensive. Try googling “dark spots on face” and you’ll see quite a few ideas. Good luck. Okay, we need to be real. Oprah looks good because she has a professional doing her makeup. I like Oprah but have you ever seen her without makeup. She not only looks old but her skin just doesn’t look good. Oprah lovers don’t come here beating me up. When I saw the show I wrote down the Lancer name thinking I was going to buy it. I should have known better. I’ve done that other times with products I’ve seen on Oprah never bought anything because of the cost. When I googled the Lancer product it was way out of my wallet’s reach. Oprah is a billionaire and God bless her she deserves what she has but she’s also a promoter and anyone who gets on her show to promote their product knows they are going to be rich the next day.
Many years ago I went to Lord n Taylor and I thought I’m going to treat my face to something good. I was thinking $20. Whoa – the lady showed me a tiny jar that cost $180. She said “it lasts a long time and you only need a dab of it”. Yeah, well that might be true but if I keep the $180 that will last a long time too. Coincidently, a few days later I read that any moisturizer you buy in the supermarket is just as good as the pricey ones. Okay, I’m outta here. I need to shine my walking cane (giggles).

In the experience I’ve had friends thinking that they needed “eye jobs” because of exactly what you have, most of them didn’t need it or a magical cream. My friend and ocular plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Weiss, has told most of them that it’s allergies!
If you’ve got those dark bags that when you push on them they feel like they are filled with fluid…then chances are that you are allergic to something.
The good news is if you can pin-point what’s causing the reaction you can get some significant results really quickly. Dr. Weiss always suggests that patients start with GLUTEN and DAIRY and see what kind of results you get after a week. He says that 100% of adults will develop an allergy to dairy as we age. Maybe start with diary first for a week and if that doesn’t do it, try going gluten free. If none of that works, sorry, but you’re off to the allergist’s office for some pretty expensive tests. Dean! I’m loving everything you’re saying… I was so excited to see the Oprah show…and then boom! I see the cost of all the Lancer products & my jaw dropped…I just relocated from Texas to India so finding pretty much anything you were suggesting is almost impossible…I did find a few products from Burt’s line but the cost was like $30 plus…I’ve had zero luck finding anything w/the alpha products…however, I did see Olay…costly, but cheaper than Estee & Burts…what exactly are the products I should be using? I’m in my late 30’s…i have normal skin, but now i’m dealing w/lots of pollution here & not so great shower water. I”m also concern about my pores looking big…
I know you can find alpha hydroxy acids in products on-line. Try the Glytone line. It’s more expensive than what you get at the drug store, but it will last a long time and it is packed with good things.

I to, like may of the ladies on your blog, saw Oprah and went to try to order the LancerX products. I’m in my late 30s and am in desparate need of a skin regime. Every time I go to buy skin care products I leave frustrated and confused with the abundance of products out there! I use Oil of Olay Foaming Face Wash for Sensitive Skin and Aveeno Mositurizer…that’s about it! I have concerns with dark spots on my cheeks, enlarged pores, and also by the end of the day I notice what looks like small pimples. Should i continue with these or switch/add…help!

Maryann, I’ve yet to find one that works and doesn’t make me look a little “white”. You could always spray your face with a clear sunscreen and then put your moisturizer and makeup on over it.
Sorry I don’t have more of an answer for you, but I really do like the Neutrogena line of sun block products.

I look about 10 yrs younger due to good self care and some good old family genes! I’ve been noticing those lines around my mouth and the one’s on the chin. Hey Nancy! Thanks for the comments, you’re too kind. If you’re going to get a peel, make sure that you’re going to a dermatologist who specializes in cosmetics. You’ll get a lot of bang for you buck if you get a peel — but you’re going to look like crap for a few days afterward — especially if you get a TCA or CO2 laser peel. It’s worth it! The peels work especially well on people with lighter skin. Buying those AHA creams will soften the look of the lines, but getting “a big peel” will really make a difference. I found that micro current really works. I started with one a week for two months, then two a month, and now just once a month. I’m 70 and it really works!! It can be expensive, but fortunately I’ve found someone that does this at a reasonable price and I have replaced this with the facials I was getting once a month.

So glad that I found this site. I, too, was appalled at the high cost of the Lancer products and will definitely try your suggested alternatives. My mother ONLY used Noxema on her face and she had incredible skin all her life. HIgher cost definitely does not equal better product.

Thank you for this information. I have been using Edgar Morris Skin Care for about 20 years. It really works and is especially good for women of color with sensitive skin. I started whenI was 18 and it got rid of blemishes. The products are great and affordable. For about $80 you get a whole regimen of products to use day and night. There is a scrub, cleanser, 2 masks, astringent, etc. It’s great. Years ago they had infomercial on with celebrities such as Dionne Warwick, Lynn Whitfield and others supporting this product. They are online now. Not sold in stores. Not sure why but you can get it online.
Wow! I’m so amazed, and happy I found this site. I’m glad I’m not wasting my money on Dr. Lancer’s crap. However I have dry skin and doesn’t seem to keep enough moisture, I’ve use Oil of Olay. and about half way through the day my skin feels like leather. Can you suggest something else?
I have really dry skin too. I get what you’re saying about getting dry later in the day. Try the Glytone product line. It’s got strong AHA’s in it and when I use it, it not only makes my skin look great but my skin feels less dry than when I use other products. You might start out with the Alpha Hydrox products first though, as you might get good results from that and it’s less expensive, thought the Glytone isn’t outrageous. For really dry skin I use reVita Hydase Creme, it’s called a regeneration cream. I had to order online, but the company I dealt with let me charge to my credit card. It’s only available from Europe and I had to calulate the price from euros to dollars, but it was worth it.

Hey Adjowa! If your skin is that dry, I would head to a cosmetic dermatologist and let them look at what’s going on. It could be something more than just dry skin. Do you use fish oil, flax-seed and Omega 3 oils daily? That might give you some relief. Also, do you shower for long periods? That will dry your skin out really quickly, especially if you don’t moisturize as soon as you get out of the shower. You may need to experiment with a lot of different products if your skin is that dry. I sometimes use coconut and jojoba oils. It really feels good on your skin and your husband will want to eat you! I think the Cetaphil is great but maybe the next time you need a cleanser, try the CeraVe? I don’t know if I’ve helped and I know I haven’t recommended that many things, but my #1 recommendation is to go to the dermatologist, tell them you don’t want to spend a lot of money and see what they recommend. I too watch the Oprah Show and marveled at the price of Dr. Lancer’s products which yes, probably do just what they say but why pay that price?
I have for many years used Paula’s Choice products. (cosmeticscop.com). Her products are thoroughly tested and explained on the web site. They work wonderfully at a very reasonable price. Small amounts of the product do the trick so it lasts a good long time.

Also saw Oprah, also wanted Lancer. After reading your wonderful website, I don’t want it anymore!! I am 63 and have always taken pretty good care of my skin, so I’m pretty happy with the few wrinkles I have but the “polished” look still eludes me. I’m using Glytone products but I think I’ll “step up” to the next level of intensity next time I buy more product. Meanwhile, I’m going to try the Burts Bees Scrub that you recommend.
Also, in answer to a question about an everyday moisturizer with UVA & UVB protection, I can’t say enough good things about Eucerin’s SPF 30 for Sensitive Skin, bought at local pharmacies. It leaves a silky (but not white) finish on the skin, has never caused breakouts on my high-maintenance face, and haven’t got sunburned in over 20 years!! Not even at the beach.

Thanks, I’m going to try Eucerin’s SPF30 for Sensitive skin as mine does turn my face white and I have to wait 30 mins. before putting on makeup.
I use a mix of Oil of Olay and Nivea (My Grandmother used Nivea) products. Unfortunatly it’s not that easy to get the Nivea skin care products in the states anymore. But one product I think is GREAT that is not terribly expensive and lasts a LONG TIME is the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask. My only tip would be to use it on a Monday/Tuesday night as sometimes you may break out a bit right after as it draws the crap right out of your pores (and you can FEEL this happening). I combo this with Earth Therapeutics Pore strips and my blackheads significantly reduced! My skin always looks awesome a few days after this!
Hi.. Just watched show.. Googled and found you! I’m a stay at home mom.. who needs to take better care without spending my kids college fund:) although it’s clear from the comments there are more economical choices…I’m confused.. I use cetaphil.. Just started using retin-a every other night 20 minutes after washing than glop philosophy brand moisturizer on. Derm said I had comodonal acne..in Morning I use neoutrogena healthy defense daily.. Derm said retin a will do the anti wrinkle thing…see I’m confused just writing it.. Does this plan sound ok? Also worry about under eye wrinkles and crows feet..I don’t exfoliate.. Should I try burts bees every now and then? Where does alpha hydroxy fit in?? Ok maybe I should just taking care of my 3 lil ones.. Don’t ban me for ignorance:)

You’re not the least bit ignorant! The AHA’s basically take the layers of skin off so you can grow new, fresh-looking skin. You should try to incorporate the AHA’s if you can tolerate them, but start out slowly if you’re using Rentin A. The combo could be really irritating but if you can get through it, using both will give you phenomenal results. Let me know how it goes for you. Dean
Okay…so I’ve been using the skin regimen suggested for almost 2 weeks now. At first my skin was fine but now it is red, patching and feels almost raw. I have never had so many bumps/ spots before. The Alpha Hydrox products actually burn, like fire, especially the suffle and ResQ. I’m seeing a dermatologist on Monday so hopefully she can let me know what’s going on. This has never happened before:(
Whoa Jenny! You’re still using the stuff after it’s making you burn and it’s causing bumps? My guess is that you’ve got sensitive skin and if you’re going to use that stuff, you should start out slowly. I’m sure your derm will tell you the same thing. That ResQ has probably caused the most discomfort. Stop using that stuff until your skin heals and you see your derm. I’ll bet it was just too much at one time for your skin type. Like I said, at first I was fine and just yesterday I stared having trouble with it. Not sure why but I also think it’s because my skin is sensitive. The cleanser doesn’t bother me at all. It is definitely the ResQ and possibly the suffle. I’m skipping the ResQ tonight an dusing a calming night cream. We’ll see how it looks and feels in the morning.
Back off on anything that irritates your skin, then slowing re-incorporate it back into your regimen.
By the way I’m 31 one years old (who looks 20) and normally have nice skin and just recently started getting pimples which is why I wanted to try this regimen.
Check out what Dr. Wall is prescribing for acne. She says it works wonders. —Dean
Its weird though because its not full blown acne. I only get one or two at a time. The problem is that when I get them they are very raised, red, painful and leave scars behind. I’m looking forward to seeing my derm on Monday.

Thank you for this great article and product review. Normally a very common sense shopper, I was quite tempted by the implied benefits of the Lancer products touted on Oprah. In fact, I was headed to Nordstrom’s today! Now I’ll drop by my local pharmacy instead and use the ‘saved’ $$ for something much more fun than a one month supply of facial products.

Love your site! Like many others, I was online trying to research the Lancer products and came across your site. I’m in my early 40’s and about 6 years ago, I developed cystic acne (twice) and had to go on accutane. Since then, it has cleared up but I still have an occasional breakout. I also have hyperpigmentation. I am currenlty using Skinn by Demetri James and have noticed a softness in my skin but I am wondering if there is anything out there that will help with the hyperpigmentation. Thanks!

What I’ve found is that products with AHA in them work the best for hands and feet. Glytone has a really good “foot and heal” cream that I use on my very dry hands…especially in winter. I’ll bet that Alpha Hydrox has one too and you can probably get that on line or at CVS or Walgreens. Let me know if you need help with anything else. Dean

I don’t know of anything that will actually build collagen though that doesn’t mean there isn’t something out there. I have heard that there are lasers that will do it. Those “sunken” eyes….not sure if anything other than fillers will work. Frownies…at least it’s not too expensive and may be worth the try. Keep the receipt! If they’re claiming it will do all that is says…it better. I send stuff back all the time that doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do and feel great about it. I know you don’t want to use Botox…that stuff is amazing. Been using is for years (our secret!). Not one doctor I’ve ever talked to about it has ever had an issue with it. Hope this helps. Dean

I have a squeeze bottle in the bathroom, that I keep filled with extra virgin coconut oil! I love that I am not putting more chemicals all over my body (I save that for my face and neck). I don’t towel off, but just apply to my body while still wet and air-dry. In the winter, I warm up the bottle in water while I am showering as the coconut oil will solidify in the colder months. It smells delicious too and doesn’t clog your pores like other oils.

I too, was checking out the Lancer products when I came across you – you are amazing with your knowledge and information. Awhile ago, while walking through a mall, I purchased over $565 in Premier – the Dead Sea stuff. I’ve been in direct sales for years and I’m good at it – but this guy was better than me and I took the bait. It doesn’t work!! There are no refunds, exchanges only. I’ve since learned that you can purchase the products online much cheaper. I’m so mad at myself for blowing so much money!! One of the products had actually leaked in the package!!
Now I’m even madder at myself after reading these posts. I’ve sold Avon for years and some of their skin products are pretty good but since I’ve just turned eeeks..65..I want something better!! I’d like to point out here that people think I’m somewhere between 45 and 50!!

My question is: Is the AHA facial cleanser souffle that you mentioned above meant to be used to take off make up as well? I guess I am a lazy girl and I like one product that will take off make up and clean my face at the same time. Try those Neutragena Makeup Remover pads. Carol posted that she loves them and that they do a great job. Sorry to tell you that you’ll have to go to the next step after you use the pads…you’ll have to moisturize! Use something with retinoids in it. Thanks for the great comments. Dean

I recently found Neutrogena makeup remover cleansing towelettes (Costco big pack with travel packs as well) remove all the the makeup off my face including the eye makeup. Quick and easy. I could not believe how one towlelette worked in removing all the makeup. My face is even clearing up. I also use a little apple cider vinegar on a q-tip for the major breakout. I do think you were a bit hard on Oprah; because of her show I learned how to take care of my skin. Her show also led me to your website (smile). I think she endorses products that she will use herself and Lancer was her pick.

There is a product called: “Latisse” that does help thicken eyelashes. It’s the product Brooke Shields is hawking on TV. On warning about this — if you have rosacia, don’t use it, it will make your lashes grow faster and fuller, but INTO your eye. If you don’t have rosacia, it works great but if you stop using it, the lashes go back to where they were. It’s expensive too but it works.

Do you have any info on Lifeflow Tropical Advantage Lotion? I was going to use Burt’s Bee’s line but heard Clorox bought them out and that’s not a good thing. I don’t know anything about the Tropical Advantage Lotion Line but the Alpha Hydrox and Glytone lines are really great for dry skin. I don’t think that Burt’s Bees products will have bleach in them anytime soon, but I’m guessing you’re avoiding Clorox for political reasons? Either way, try the lines I mentioned above.
Thanks for response. Yes mainly anti corporate, used to work for P & G and Clorox, they will make some changes in BB’s products. I did go ahead and buy some BB’s deep pore scrub and the Life-Flo Tropical Advantage ($15 for 19 oz) and will keep you posted on results. Just turned 62 and trying to stay in holding pattern. Just happy to have survived the rapture.

Dean… I just started to use the Olay 7 Total Effects at night..i’m in my late 30’s & want to stay as young as possible….I’ve also started hitting the gym in the mornings…when i wake up..i do my normal beauty routine & my face seems to look just fine in the mirror…but once I get to the gym & see my face in their mirrors I look awful! Like I’ve got a tiny bag underneath 1 eye…i honestly don’t remember seeing this before…so I don’t know if I’ve always had it but never saw it b/c my bathroom mirror never showed it…or is it b/c im getting up an hr earlier even with the same amount of sleep as before…or…is it the Olay?? Hey Leni! Congrats on starting the new routine, that’s tough to do. If you touch the bag and it’s “squishy”, you may have fluid in there instead of an age issue. That’s the most likely case. If so, you’re allergic to something that is setting it off. I have the same problem. Try limiting your gluten for 2 weeks. Like…none. If it doesn’t improve, next try dairy for 2 weeks. Almost all adults develop allergy to dairy as we age. If that doesn’t work, you may be allergic to something that’s new to you environmentally. Allergy to dust mites is the #1 indoor allergen so that could be your problem. That is what was making my lower lids get so puffy. You have to cover your bed in a “Dust Mite” cover, wash your sheets, pillows and blankets in really hot water or put them in the freezer for a few days to kill the dust mites. The allergy comes from their excrement. Kill off the little monsters (they live on dead skin, hair and finger nails) because they poop a whole lot. If you can stop them from burrowing into your mattress and bed linens, you’ll see a REMARKABLE difference. Well, that’s what I know. It’s probably one of the three above, but it could be anything. Try those remedies first. I’d do the dust mite thing ASAP and then try the other ones too. As far as where to get products in India, as a concierge at one of the best hotels there. If that doesn’t work, maybe try one of the spas in the area. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for the comment.

Wow, great information! What do you recommend for dark circles/bags under the eyes? I’ve read posts warning that I should not fall for the “younger looking eyes” claims of Hydrolyze! I would love some suggestions!
My guess it that you’re having an allergic reaction to something that is causing the dark circles and the swelling under your eyes. MY #1 cause is dust mite allergy. Everyone has them in their beds and they don’t affect everyone but once I put the covers on my pillows and mattress, bammo, the puffy eyes went down and the dark circles went away. You also could have a gluten issue or dairy. Try cutting one out, then the other and see what happens. You’ve got to be 100% diligent about the gluten. It’s in a lot of things, including soy sauce! Let me know how it goes, but I don’t think any product will cure your issue. It’s probably allergy.
I am amazed with the amount of buzz that still continues. This must be an amazing product for all of the buzz that is being generated! I am going to review it very soon and I do not think I will be disappointed.
I still believe there are more affordable alternatives, but if it is good, then it is good! Make sure you are open and do not knock the less expensive brands that can be more or just as effective.

There is a cream and cleanser I bought called Simple. Its number one seller in England, contains no alcohol or colour and it has worked wanders for my skin. I was also given advise to wash my face with warm water because warm water opens the pores to be cleansed and use cold water to rinse as it closes the pores. I dont know if thats true but its working for me x

I too, was going to buy the Lancer Skin Care System, then I happened upon this website/blog. Ha! I’m not buying the Lancer product either.
For me, Clinique face wash, the liquid one for oily skin is the only one that has always worked. It clears up my acne really good. I don’t use the moisturizer however, a nurse at a plastic surgeon’s office told me clinique’s moistureizer is not good for our skin, its too heavy and too oily.
For me, I can’t use any moisturizer anyway….they all make me break out, even the ones that say wont cause breakouts.

Way to go Harriett! You’re off to a great start. Make sure that you’re including products with alpha hydroxy acid in them and be sure and use a retinol product at night. You can get all of these either at the drug store, Target or online. Oil of Olay has some really good moisturizers, (maybe use this at night) but Alpha Hydrox and Glytone (at derm’s office or on line) all do a great job too. I’d kill three birds with one stone (moisturize,alpha hydroxy acid and sunscreen) and use either the Alpha Hydrox or Glytone products. I hope this helps. Hey Michele! You don’t have to use the polish/scrubber…but you’ll get better results if you do. Try it once a week and see if there’s improvement. Hey Celestine! Thanks for visiting TGTGG. There are several products listed in the article that deals well with acne — Dr. Tomi Wall has had very good luck with the products she recommended. About the allergy testing…why don’t you start by limiting your exposure to what might be making you have allergy issues. As we age, very few of us can tolerate dairy. Try cutting out the dairy for two weeks and see what happens. Another biggie is gluten. Read up on what gluten is and what it’s in and see if that helps. Lastly, and the one big one for me is allergy to dust mites. That’s a pretty easy fix. Bed covers and pillow covers and washing your bed linens in hot water/ hot dryer is a great way to start that. I have been using the Alpha Hydroxi products, as well as the Burts Bee cleanser for 3 weeks now, and my face is totally different! plus I saved a bundle 30+ dollars vs 100+ for the Lancer products, thank you so much. My daughter, (she’s 31) has acne problems, she’s tried proactive and clinique, but Acne keeps coming back, does the Alpha Hydroxi product line for acne, or should she try the Cerave? we also saw the Burts Bee has products for acne. I’m sure that other products will work well too but I can assure you that Dr. Lancer’s products are wonderful. I have very dry fair skin and all of the issues that go with that. I have been using the three step products for two months and my skin has never looked or felt better. In particular the AM/PM nourishing repair cream is unlike any other product I’ve ever tried (and believe me I’ve tried them all) If money is the issue (it certainly is for me) I would substitute the polish and cleanse for something more affordable but the repair is second to none. I have no affiliation with Dr. Lancer but the results have made me a believer.

Enjoyed your website – I too found it when searching for the Lancer products out of curiosity. I have been using Philosophy skincare products for several years and I’m very satisfied. There are many great moisturizers out there, but the most important thing is cleansing so whatever you put on afterwards will have a clean base. Some of their products are a little pricey ( but not like Lancer) but those can be substituted with good OTC products suggested on this site. However, one product that is reasonably priced, worth the money and lasts a long time is the Help Me retinol night treatment. You only use a pea size, and I use every other night. It can be found at Philosophy.com, Sephora, Ulta, QVC and I think Macy’s may carry it. I always order on- line as none of these are available in my area.

I saw a derm a few years ago about these tiny pimples all across my forehead. She prescribed retinol-A but she didn’t think it would help. They are very tiny but very visible unless I cover them with bangs. I am 68 and would like a simple prescrip for care through my local drug store.
i saw a re-run of the oprah show today. i knew the stuff had to be pricey. i use aveeno cleansing bar (about $2.99), aveeno positively radiant moisturizer with spf 30 ($15.99) and renova several times a week. the renova is $200 but lasts a year. i’m almost 70. i have no wrinkles and my skin is glowing.
Arlene! That Renova really does work. It’s like “youth in a tube!” The only issue is it takes a bit getting used to because it can really dry the heck out of your face when you start using it, especially if they think “more is better.” WRONG! I’m sure you’ve learned that already! Use what they recommend. I’ve used it around my eyes…BE CAREFUL! My eyes looked worse for a few days. I recently was editing a book on acne, and became truly disgusted and angry at the amount of chemicals that pass for cosmetics. Yuck!
In doing research, I found that sweet almond oil, gently applied, is supposed to help with bags. You can also mix it with honey. I haven’t tried this yet since I live rather far from my health food store, but I will.

Sight unseen, I doubt that anything will work to get rid of them except having them clipped off by a dermatologist, so ask the derm! It’s relatively easy and not too expensive. I’d guess less than $500 for all of them — and then they’d be gone and you can stop worrying about them! Find out! One thing though, they could be virus related and that is kinda tricky. Make sure you get good advice on removing them. I’ve seen moles/skin tags removed by excision and then cauterizing them and no problems. You have to be VERY careful if you’ve got the virus related moles/skin tags. DO NOT breath in when they are cauterizing them! You don’t want any of that virus getting into your lungs as there’s a possibility they could plant themselves in your lungs — then you’ve got real problems.
If you’ve got a lot of simple moles/skin tags, try to make a deal with the dermatologist. Don’t let them charge you $200 for each one — that would be ridiculous — especially if you have a lot of them to remove.
One more note. With African American skin, your chances of scaring are greatly increased through the formation of keloids. Make SURE you follow the protocol from your doctor and make SURE you take the steroids if they recommend them. You can get really horrible results if you don’t use the steroids as prescribed. I color my hair so I’m using Biolage for color treated hair….but I’ve been shedding more hair than usual….which could be b/c I’v moved (for business) to Bombay India & the water seems a bit tough on my hair as well as the pollution….i’m using Dove shampoo to prevent falling hair…is there a shampoo that does both? Surgery is the best answer if you need it, but be VERY careful of who you choose to do it. Just because they are a “plastic surgeon” doesn’t mean that they’re good at it. You’ve got ask around and see some results for yourself. My GayGuyApproved eye guy is known for fixing OTHER plastic surgeon’s mistakes, and some of them are pretty horrendous — like the patients can’t close their lids because the surgeon didn’t know what they were doing. Don’t even think of letting someone other than a plastics doc work on you. Had a dermatologist who was a “Mohs” surgeon tell me that he could do it. WRONG! He had NO IDEA what I needed and thank God I found someone who really knew what he was doing. If in Chicago or nearby or if you can afford to fly in, go see Dr. Robert Weiss, Illinois Masonic. He’s 100% honest and won’t do surgery unless you REALLY need it. He’s a master at it, does celebrities and regular folk too! 773-296-800. Tell him you found him though me. You might be able to get an earlier appointment if you mention my name. OK, he did my eyes, what do you think? NO ONE would ever guess I’ve had them done and he’s done 5 people I know — All of them LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what he did for them. You can’t screw around with your eyes. Have them done ONCE by the right surgeon.
If you really don’t want surgery, there is a laser solution that might help. It’s called “DOT Therapy” and it uses a CO2 laser to tighten your skin. It’s the bomb! Costs around $2,500 but it really works and the downtime is about 3 days. It’s a new technology and works wonders. Cosmetic derms have them in their offices. Make sure they use “DOT” to do it.

I’ m still trying to figure out which goes on first.. I put on my 50 or 70 spf uva and uvb sunscreen, wait 20 minutes. then apply my serum. wait 10 minutes more. then apply my moisturizer(that has a 50 spf) , then 10 minutes later apply my mineral make-up. Is this the right procedure? I work outside everyday and wear a hat as well. takes a while to get ready to go. help
Apply the sunscreen FIRST. It gives it a chance to interact with the skin. If you use moisturizer first, it creates a barrier and the sunscreen won’t be as effective. You are applying your products 100% correctly. Sorry it takes so long! What serum do you use? Thanks Susan! Dean

Thank you so much for all the information. I just read through all the posts and took good notes. But, I am still a little confused on which products to try. I have rosacea so I am not sure to go with Glytone products or the Alpha Hydrox products. I don’t have a regular dermotoligist right now, but use to go to one regularly and she always told me not to use scrubs or anything abrasive on my skin. So, in each line Dean what should I use. I just moved to Colorado Springs a little over a year ago and need a good dermo here. Do you know of any? My skin has become really dry since I moved here. THe sun is always shining here!! :)
One more question……..my dermo back in New York recommended using a product that she sold called SkinCeuticals. Do you know anything about that product?

YEARS ago there was a book called “Blue Eyeshadow Should Be Banned.” Nevermind what your opinion of blue eyeshadow is, the skin care routine described was easy, cheap and probably already in your house:
1. Wash your face with a combination (make a paste in your hand) of baking soda and Cetaphil Soap. The baking soda has a little pumice like action to it, and the Cetaphil is a mild effective cleanser
2. Use Peroxide (regular old peroxide) as an astringent.
3. Going to bed? Do all these things again, and if you have breakouts, use Milk of Magnesia on them. The MOM has clays in it to dry out the blemish and a soothing agent to take the redness away.
That’s IT! I did this for years; don’t know why I drifted away from it, but it was an excellent inexpensive beauty routine.

What about crow’s feet? Will anything work?
A lot of the products recommended in the post will help, but not eliminate the crow’s feet. A laser treatment (or several) really does work as well as TCA peels. Your dermatologist can recommend a great treatment for this; I’m advising you find a “cosmetic derm” to get the latest advice. Also, my experience is that if you do the more aggressive treatments, though they have more “down time”, the results are more dramatic and can often end up costing you less.
Ready to go back to school and am wanting to take care of the “teacher frown” between my eyes. I’m 63 but feel like 36!

I don’t know how you feel about trying Botox, it works! The only problem is you need it about every 4 months, you’ll get addicted to the way you look (if done right!) and it can be expensive. Let me know if you venture down the path and how it works for you. Dean

Love this site! I have extremely sensitive skin and just had a baby. After giving birth my skin seems to have become oily. Although the skin sensitivity and my rocasea has improved. I was thinking about trying Roc Retinol Correction Deep Wrinkle Night Cream, combined with Olay face wash for sensitive skin with the Olay Regenerist night cream. Do you think this sound right? Also what daytime moisturizer do you recommend?

I think your regimen sounds like a great place to start. I recently tried: Elta MD UV Daily SFP 40 Light Daily Moisturizer. WOW! It goes on a little white at first but then quickly fades. Got it at my derm’s office and I know that it is sold on line too. It’s about $28.00 for 1.8 oz. I really like it and my derm tells me that it has zinc oxide in it and that is one great ingredient when using a moisturizer/ sun screen.

Yes! Stay out of the sun, use a good sunscreen. Limit eating: chocolate, spicy food and coffee. (Good life, isn’t it?)

Nope, my post is no where to be found, but that’s ok. I stated that I used the Lancer Skin care products for approximately 1 week back in June and had the worst allergici reaction that I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve been under my dermatologist care for the past 5 weeks, have to wear a mask whenever I outside or when I’m in direct light, and am on an antibiotic and two separate face meds (one for morning and one for night). My face was now looks like I have chicken pox all over my face. I’m scheduled for a 6 wk follow up in which my dermatologist plans to give me meds to clear up the black marks. It’s truly been an ordeal for me. I did receive a full refund but I would never ever recommend the Lancer Skin care products to anyone!

Thank you, Dean. I appreciate your concerns. My dermatologist informed me today that I have to continue wearing a face mask for another 6 weeks, in addition to now using two more face products. I will be so glad when this ordeal is finally over. This truly has been an experience that I will never forget.

Hello Dean, My name is Crystal and I’m suffering from acne. I usually always gotten small pimples before and they will always go away when i used acne products , but since I have sensitive skin my skin will always get irritated, by the products. I always had problems looking for lotion for my face because they will never cure my irritated skin. So one day a lady told me to use “Avocado Oil” because supposely it helps irritated skin, but it didn’t because the next day i woke up with alot of small pimples all over my skin and I been trying all sorts of acne products to help my skin, but they dont seem to work for me, they either make my skin worst or its just doesent do anything. What could use to help it get better?

For an eye cream, get whatever feels great to you. I can’t recommend one over the other at this point. I’d start with the less expensive ones until you find one you love. Honestly there is nothing like Lancer and it can never be replaced or replicated with any other skincare products. You do not need the office appointment, go to Nordstrom and order the three step process. It is worth every penny. Honestly I am a 20+ year product junkie, I have tried everything, every line, at any price. I have now said goodbye to those overpriced and useless dept. store brands. I see a big difference in ONE use. ONE! You MUST buy this line, I am in love with it. I have never seen any product line do what Lancer does. Period. I have rosacia, I have eczema, I have skin cancer, I have sensitive skin…. I got skin issues. And this is my choice.

I just want to say I agree with Kristin. I love Dr. Lancer’s products. I’ve tried so many products (including Burt’s Bees and the things your Chicago doctor likes), and this is the best. I believe spending money on your skin is like a good haircut. You can get the cheap versions to save money, but the results won’t be the same. It is a relief to have finally found something I love. And another thing, I hope the people who review things have tried them for at least a month. If you want nice skin, talk to people on the street who look good. They are the best examples.

Dr Lancer and his horrible staff left me and my dear wife $5000 poorer and with so many marks on her face. His practice should be shut down and he should be put behind bars. We are from India. We called his secretary for one whole year and pleaded to speak to Dr Lancer. But he refused saying that he needed us to be there in person to take any further decision. When we arrived at his clinic after a 22 hour flight. He took just 10 minutes to dismiss us saying that not much can be done with my wife’s skin type which is Olive skin. Rather this rogue doctor who is only interested in filling his pockets by selling creams to god knows how many innocent people did not give us a typed prescription. The prescription was so unclear and ambiguous that the creams caused further redness on the face and damage.
