Dean Hervochon, "The Go To Gay Guy"

-Lifestyle Enhancer
-Professional Cat Herder

-Unsolicited Advice Giver
-Always a Girl’s Best Friend!

Have you ever been stuck and needed an opinion…an opinion from someone you trusted, even though you might not know them?  Yeah, I know you’re saying to yourself, “If only I had access to gay guys, gay guys, gay guys!”  (or Oprah, of course, but she’s kinda busy!)

That’s how “Gay Guy Approve” came about.  My friends (both straight and gay) constantly ask me my advice on a whole plethora of things.  From face cream to cars, dogs to dandruff, boyfriends to bed linens and working out to working for a living.  I actually know a lot about a lot of things – sometimes I really surprise myself!

This blog is to help you skip a lot of the “hard knocks” I took, making myself into the fabulous person that I am today.  Eh hem.

If you need gay guy advice, a laugh or someone to help you “get over that hump,” I’m here to help.  If I don’t know the answer, I won’t leave you hanging, I’ll find out.  I know a few gay guys,  (well, probably more than just a few!) so rest assured, I’ve got it covered.  I’ll do what I can to help you, but remember that I’m no Anne Sullivan!

I can be blunt – but please don’t mistake that for being mean.  I’m usually the one who will say that there’s “an elephant in the room,” so don’t be surprised if I point out the obvious, and sometimes, that stings a little. “Tough Love Hervochon” is what my co-workers called me when I was a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines.

On caveat here, I don’t suffer fools, bullies, racists, perpetual victims or anyone who stands by and doesn’t act in the defense of others when they should.

My friends tell me that they come to me when they want to know the “truth” about something. I’ll tell you the truth, but remember, it’s the truth as I know it.

Experience? – Yowza! I’ve had a variety of occupations/businesses – not to mention a relationship, or two, (Two? Yeah, right!) along the way. I’ve been a lifeguard, a waiter and a flight attendant. I’ve been a union vice-president, a real estate agent, a mortgage broker, I’ve built and rehabbed houses and I’ve been a successful Chicago restaurateur.

I’m currently the vice president of the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce in my awesome Chicago neighborhood. I co-founded, managed and was the executive vice-president of a successful pharmaceutical research clinic that specializes in Alzheimer’s Disease, and I also started a men’s health clinic – erectile dysfunction mainly – now that one was a lot of fun!
